The Waterfalls loop trail is a moderate 5.9 mile hike that takes approximately four hours to complete. The trail head is off of Regency Drive in Clayton. There is a 1,300 foot elevation gain to the base of the falls. The falls flow only after rainfall and are best viewed up to several days after heavy rain. When running, the 100-foot falls offer one of the mountain's most spectacular attractions. After rains, the trail is usually muddy, and visitors are prohibited from climbing the falls as they can be dangerous and can damage the landscape.
